Mount Kilimanjaro Charity Trek
In aid of Cancer Research UK
They say life begins at 40.....
It certainly does for Alasdair McCallum who turned 40 this year. He and his friend Alan Savage both have, in more ways than one, 'a mountain to climb' raising funds for Cancer Research UK Scotland !
Their goal is to conquer the summit of the world's highest, free-standing mountain on the roof of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. In true Scottish spirit they will be sporting their clan tartan in the kilts they will wear. Jokingly they laugh “Midges won't be a problem but frostbite might be!"
At 19,344ft. Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the earth's crust. But this is not their ultimate challenge..............
Their ultimate challenge is a target of £8,000 for Cancer Research U.K. Scotland.
That is their real mountain peak!
The two intrepid trekers fly out to Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday 2 December 2006 and transfer to Tanzania the following day when their Kilimanjaro challenge begins. They return from their trek on Wednesday 13 December 2006, hopefully with their mission accomplished, money raised and the summit 'bagged'.

Adjacent is their goal, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
