About the two trekers
The two tartan trekers
Alan, who resides in Hillington, Glasgow, is no stranger to the mountains and to fundraising. In fact, in October 2004 he raised the fantastic sum of £4,000 for 'The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust' and reached Everest Base Camp in Nepal. No mean feat! He says:
"Base Camp Everest was a life changing experience for both myself and the people helped by The Anthony Nolan Trust. Raising sponsorship through fundraising requires lots of commitment, time and effort. We managed to raise a combined total of £67,000 for charity. It was a wonderful adventure that broadened my horizons, increased my confidence, decreased my waistline and gave me friends that I will cherish forever."
Alasdair from Largs, Ayrshire, thrives on the Great Outdoors' and decided that life does indeed begin at forty! His most recent fundraising events have included a Tandem Sky Dive from 12,000 ft, The Great Scottish Run ( with his wife Helen), and a car boot sale...........all raising much needed funs along the way.
Both families of Alan and Alasdair have been affected by cancer and this is reflected in their passion for raising these vital funds.
